Alright, so listen up, y’all. This thing, this “Met Gala,” sounds mighty fancy. Heard it’s some kinda big party in the city, New York City, that is. All them highfalutin folks dressin’ up and showin’ off.
Now, this girl, Angel Reese, she’s been gettin’ some attention. She’s a basketball player, plays for the Sky now, Chicago Sky. Used to be with LSU, that college team down south. Good player, I hear. But this ain’t about basketball, not really.
This Angel girl, she went to this Met Gala thing. And lemme tell ya, she looked… well, she looked different. Not like when she’s on the court, all sweaty and tough. This time, she was all dolled up. Feathered gown, they said. And makeup, lots of it, I reckon. Glamorous, that’s the word they used. Glamorous. Means fancy, I guess.
They say it was her birthday too. Turned 22, this girl. Imagine that, spendin’ your birthday at a big ol’ party with all them rich folks. Must’ve been somethin’ else. Heard they raise money there, for some museum in the city. Art museum, I think. Don’t know much about art myself, but I guess it’s important to some folks.

They had a theme this year, somethin’ about a garden. “Garden of Time,” they called it. Don’t ask me what that means. Sounds pretty though, like somethin’ outta a fairy tale. I bet Angel’s dress had somethin’ to do with that theme. Feathers, maybe they were supposed to be like birds or flowers or somethin’. Who knows?
It’s funny, seein’ these athletes all dressed up. You’re used to seein’ ’em in their uniforms, runnin’ and jumpin’ and whatnot. Then you see ’em at somethin’ like this Met Gala, and they’re totally different. Like they stepped into a whole ‘nother world. Good for them, I say. Work hard, play hard, dress up fancy sometimes. Ain’t nothin’ wrong with that.
This Angel girl, she’s makin’ a name for herself, that’s for sure. Not just on the basketball court, but off it too. People are talkin’ about her, about her style, about her looks. That’s how it works, I guess. You gotta be more than just a good player these days. You gotta be a star, a personality. And it looks like Angel Reese is on her way to bein’ just that.
