Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with some PNG images, specifically handcuffs. I’ve been working on a personal project where I need a bunch of different images, and handcuffs just happened to be on the list.

First, I started with a simple Google search, just typing in “handcuffs png” to see what would pop up. A ton of stuff came up, mostly from those free image websites. You know, the ones where you can download stuff, but the quality isn’t always great. And sometimes they hit you with a paywall, which is annoying.

After looking around for a bit, I found a few decent images. I downloaded a couple that I thought might work. The first one was a pretty standard-looking pair of handcuffs, silver, against a white background. It was okay, but a little boring, to be honest.

  • Downloaded image 1: Standard silver handcuffs, white background.

The second one was a bit more interesting. It was a cartoon-style image of handcuffs, which I thought might be fun to play with. It had a transparent background, which is always a plus when you’re trying to put images together.

  • Downloaded image 2: Cartoon-style handcuffs, transparent background.

Then I started thinking, what if I could change the color of the handcuffs? I’m no Photoshop expert, but I know the basics. I opened up one of the images and started messing around with the hue and saturation settings. It was pretty easy to turn the silver handcuffs into gold ones. Then I tried making them pink, just for kicks. That actually looked kind of cool.

  • Experimented with colors: Changed silver to gold, then to pink.

After that, I thought, “What else can I do with these?” I found some other images online – a picture of a person, a wall, stuff like that. I started putting the handcuff images on top of those other pictures, just to see what they would look like. It was kind of fun, like making a little collage.

But then I thought the plain handcuff images were a bit dull. I tried to find some PNG images that had some additional elements, like a chain or maybe a lock. That was a bit harder. I found a few, but they were all stuck behind paywalls, and I didn’t feel like paying for them.

So I went back to the cartoon-style image. I figured I could probably add a chain myself. It took a while, and it’s definitely not perfect, but I managed to draw a little chain connecting the two cuffs. It looked alright, I guess. I’m no artist, that’s for sure.

  • Attempted to add a chain: Manually drew a chain on the cartoon image.

In the end, I had a few different versions of the handcuff image that I could use for my project. Some were simple, some were a bit more complex. It wasn’t exactly what I had in mind when I started, but it was a fun little experiment. I learned a bit more about image editing and I guess that is pretty useful. Maybe next time, I will try making some SVG files. I heard those are easy to use for making t-shirts and stuff. I saw a few people talking about it online, some guys named Razer and some company called L22. I will look for them later.

My takeaways for today:

  • Finding free PNG images can be a pain.
  • Basic image editing isn’t as hard as it looks.
  • I should probably learn how to draw better.

Alright, that’s it for today’s little adventure with handcuffs and PNGs. Hope you found it somewhat interesting!
