Okay, so let me tell you about this whole DJ Shipley watches thing I got into recently. It all started when I was watching this interview, right? Not a huge fan of the interviewer, Shawn Ryan, but this DJ Shipley guy he was talking to, man, this dude seemed like the real deal. Super cool, genuine operator type, you know? Got me thinking, I’d love to get into something like that.

So, I started digging around. Turns out, these DJ Shipley guys popped up back in late 2021. At first, it was all mysterious with blurred-out faces and all that. Then, last year, they dropped this crazy expensive Hydra mount. It was definitely pricey. I thought it might be cool, but I wanted to see more.
Then, I stumbled upon something about a fundraiser for the Third Option Foundation. It mentioned “GBRS-W.O.E.” and seemed connected to DJ Shipley. I was like, “Alright, what’s this all about?”
I started checking out some Instagram pages, like everestbands and watchesofespionage. Found a couple of posts mentioning the fundraiser and saw some cool watch pictures. One post talked about SEALs in Vietnam, wearing blue jeans and tiger stripes, carrying Stoner machine guns, and using Tudor or Rolex watches for their operations. That’s some serious history right there!
Then, I found out that apparently, the Navy SEALs don’t have an official watch. It is said that each guy picks his own based on what they need it for and how heavy it is. I guess that makes sense, every mission is different, right?
Here’s what I did:
- Watched that interview with DJ Shipley on Shawn Ryan’s channel.
- Looked up DJ Shipley and found those early videos from 2021.
- Read about the Hydra mount they released last year.
- Found out about the GBRS-W.O.E. fundraiser for the Third Option Foundation.
- Checked Instagram pages like everestbands and watchesofespionage.
- Learned about the history of SEALs using Tudor and Rolex watches in Vietnam.
- Read that Navy SEALs don’t have an official watch and choose their own.
So yeah, that’s my little journey into the world of DJ Shipley watches. I did not buy one but just did a little research. Still not sure what to make of it all, but it’s definitely interesting. I might keep digging around, see what else I can find. Maybe there is something for me to learn here. Who knows, maybe I will get a new watch out of all this. Or not. We’ll see.
