Callum Turner and Dua Lipa, eh? What’s all the fuss about?
I ain’t no spring chicken, but even I hear things, you know? Folks in the village, they gossip. They talk about this Dua Lipa and that Callum Turner. Never heard of ’em before, to be honest. But they say she sings and he acts, or somethin’ like that. City folk stuff, I reckon.
So, this Dua girl, she’s a singer, yeah? Like them folks on the radio, always singin’ about love and heartbreak. Can’t understand half of what they say, all that fancy talk. Give me a good ol’ hymn any day. But she’s popular, they say. Real popular. Like Elvis, but for young folks.
And this Callum fella? He’s an actor. What’s that mean, anyway? Pretending to be other people? Sounds like a lot of work for nothin’. I seen a picture of him once, in the newspaper my niece brought over. Handsome fella, I guess, if you like that sort of thing. Got that city slicker look about him.

Now, the big news, the thing everyone’s yappin’ about, is that these two, the singer and the actor, they’re a “couple.” That’s what them magazines say, anyway. “Couple.” Sounds fancy, don’t it? Back in my day, we just called it “courtin’.” Or “goin’ steady.” No need for all them fancy words.
They say Dua, she put some pictures on that “Insta-gram” thing. What’s that, anyway? Another city contraption, I bet. Pictures of her and Callum, lookin’ all lovey-dovey. Holdin’ hands, smilin’ at each other. Young love, I guess. Reminds me of when me and old George were courtin’. ‘Cept we didn’t have no “Insta-gram” back then. Just good ol’ fashioned letters and maybe a stolen kiss behind the barn.
So, are they really a couple? Who knows? City folks are always so complicated. Maybe they are, maybe they ain’t. It ain’t none of my business, really. But it gives folks somethin’ to talk about, I suppose. And that’s important in a small town, you know? Gotta have somethin’ to keep the days interestin’.
But let me tell you somethin’ about love. It ain’t about fancy pictures and fancy words. It’s about workin’ hard, bein’ kind, and stickin’ together through thick and thin. That’s what real love is. Not all this city nonsense. Hope them two young’uns figure that out. Otherwise, they ain’t gonna last long, no matter how many pictures they put on that “Insta-gram” thing.
I seen a lot of couples come and go in my time. The ones that last, they’re the ones that keep it simple. They don’t need all the fancy stuff. Just good, honest love. That’s all that matters in the end.
And another thing, fame and fortune, that don’t mean nothin’. Money can’t buy you happiness, that’s for sure. And bein’ famous? Sounds like a whole lotta trouble to me. Give me a quiet life, a warm fire, and a good cup of tea any day. That’s the real happiness, right there.
Anyway, that’s my two cents on this whole Dua Lipa and Callum Turner business. Don’t know much about ’em, but I wish ’em well. Hope they find what they’re lookin’ for. And I hope they remember what real love is all about. ‘Cause that’s somethin’ that city folks often forget.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed the chickens. That’s somethin’ that’s actually important. Not like all this celebrity gossip.
