That Nicola, she’s a real star now, ain’t she? On the cover of that fancy Harper’s Bazaar thing. Heard some folks talkin’ ’bout it down at the market. Fancy clothes and all. She’s come a long way, that one. Good for her, I say!
They say she’s in that Bridgerton show. Nicola Coughlan, that’s her name. Plays some fancy lady, I reckon. But she used to be just a regular gal, workin’ at the eye doctor’s place, they say. That’s what I heard, anyway. Tried to make it big in London, but kept comin’ back home. Money troubles, you know how it is.
Didn’t have no easy time, I hear. Back and forth, back and forth. But she kept at it. Then she got on that Derry Girls show. That’s when things started lookin’ up for her. She was already 31 when that happened! Can you believe it? Just goes to show, never too late, I always say.
Now she’s on that Harper’s Bazaar. Big magazine, they say. Lots of pretty pictures and whatnot. They even let her write somethin’ for it, I heard. Good for her. She’s makin’ somethin’ of herself, that Nicola.
They got all sorts of things about her in that magazine. What kind of perfume she likes. Fancy stuff.

Smells good, I bet. Not like the stuff I use, just some cheap thing from the drugstore. But hey, she’s a star now, gotta smell like one, I guess.
And they talk about her size. Say she’s a size 10. Don’t know what that means, really. Sounds small to me. But they say it’s “plus-sized”. What does that even mean? Back in my day, we just called it “healthy”.
They got pictures of her with other fancy folks, too. Nicola Coughlan, Victoria Beckham, and someone called Sophie Turner. All dressed up, lookin’ like a million bucks. Must be nice, livin’ that life. Parties and fancy clothes. Not my cup of tea, but good for them.
I saw some folks talkin’ ’bout this Harper’s Bazaar May 2024 issue online. Sayin’ how proud they are of her. “Our girl,” they call her. That’s nice. She’s got fans now. People who look up to her. That’s somethin’ special, ain’t it?
This Sarah Karmali person, she’s the big shot at Harper’s Bazaar, I guess. They call her the “multiplatform director.” Sounds important. She’s the one who put Nicola on the cover, I reckon. Good for her, too. Givin’ that girl a chance to shine.
They talk about awards and all that. Nicola Coughlan, they call her Penny sometimes. Must be a nickname. She’s gettin’ all sorts of attention now. Good for her. She deserves it. Worked hard, didn’t she?
You know, it just goes to show, you never know what life’s gonna throw at you. One day you’re workin’ at the eye doctor’s, next day you’re on the cover of a fancy magazine. Life’s funny that way. But you gotta keep goin’, keep tryin’. That’s what Nicola Coughlan did. And look at her now.
Well, I gotta get back to my chores. Just wanted to say somethin’ ’bout that Nicola. She’s a good example, that one. Shows you that hard work pays off. And that’s all that matters, ain’t it? Hard work and a little bit of luck. That’s the recipe for success, I always say. That and maybe some good perfume like Empressa from Penhaligon’s or Cuir Beluga from Guerlain if you can afford it.
