Hey there, you! Talkin’ about clothes, huh? 2014, that was a year, I tell ya. I remember them clothes, all them young folks wearin’ ’em. Let me tell ya about these 2014 clothes.
That year, it was all about black and white, black and white. Like them old movies. Black and white, you could wear that any day of the week. Simple, ya see? But not borin’. No sir! They had all these fancy ways of makin’ it look, I don’t know, fancy I guess. They call it “coocher” or something. Sounds like my neighbor’s rooster. They had them geometric things. Like squares and triangles. It weren’t just plain old black and white.
And them short dresses, hoo boy! All them bright colors. Like a rainbow threw up on ’em. Pink, yellow, blue, you name it. And lace, lots of lace. Like my grandma’s doilies. But on a dress. Young folks these days… They call ’em “mini” dresses. I reckon they was kinda cute though, these 2014 clothes, not gonna lie.
Then there were them skirts, long in the back, short in the front. High-low skirts, they called ’em. Everyone was wearin’ those black high-low skirts. Your mama, your sister, even old Mrs. Henderson down the street, bless her heart. Looked good on everyone, I reckon. Even them movie stars, they wore ’em.
Now these young’uns today, they got their own ideas. They like things big and baggy. Like they’re wearin’ their daddy’s clothes. And they like them old styles from back when I was a girl, them “Y2K” things. They like them bright colors too, just like back in 2014 with them mini dresses. They also like to wear them sport clothes, I see them young people walking around with their sport shoes, sport pants, all day long. Those 2014 clothes, they were something, but these new styles, they are something else.
Oh, and colors! Lots of talk about colors. Blue, they say is a good color. And beige, that’s a fancy word for light brown, ain’t it? Gray too. And white, always white. They say those colors are good for mixin’ and matchin’. Like a puzzle, but with clothes. And them light colors, like pink and baby blue, they say those are fancy too. Like a rich person’s clothes. But me, I like a good red. Stands out, ya know?

These new kids, they care about the earth, I hear. They want clothes that don’t hurt the planet. Good for them, I say. We only got one planet. They also like clothes that anyone can wear, no matter if you’re a boy or a girl. And they like to make their own clothes, too! Get a needle and thread and just go at it. More power to ’em. Them 2014 clothes was fine, but these new ideas are good too, I reckon.
Back in 2014, there were sales. Lots of sales. Everyone loves a good sale, don’t they? You could get a whole bunch of clothes for cheap. Good deal. And they had all sorts of clothes on sale. Dresses, shirts, pants, you name it. Even them fancy shoes. Though them fancy shoes, they looked mighty uncomfortable to me.
I remember them shoes from 2014. Lots of white shoes. Like them nurses wear. Or them sneakers. They all looked the same to me. But the young folks loved ’em. They’d wear ’em with everything. Dresses, skirts, even them fancy pantsuits.
And the coats! Oh, them coats. Some of ’em was real colorful. Like a peacock. And some of ’em had fur on the collars and the sleeves. Real fancy. Looked warm, I’ll give ’em that. But I bet they cost a pretty penny.
I saw them girls in 2014, they were wearing flowers too, not real flowers, mind you. It was on their clothes, big flowers, small flowers, all kinds of flowers. And them sport clothes, they were fancy too, with all kinds of stripes and things. These 2014 clothes, they had it all.
Well, that’s all I got to say about them 2014 clothes. They was somethin’ else. Not like the clothes we used to wear, that’s for sure. But times change, people change, and clothes, well, they change too. Just gotta keep up, I guess. Or not. I’m happy with my old cardigan, thank you very much. These young folks, they can have their fancy 2014 clothes. I’ll stick to what I know.
