Okay, so today I wanted to try something I’ve seen all over Instagram lately – the midi dress and knee-high boots combo. I’ve got this floral midi dress that I usually wear in the summer, but I was curious to see if I could make it work for fall, you know?

First off, I grabbed the dress from my closet. It’s got these tiny little flowers all over it and it flows down to about mid-calf. Super cute, but definitely more of a warm-weather vibe. Then I went for my knee-high boots. I have a pair of black suede ones that I thought would be perfect.
- Tried on the dress first – fit as usual.
- Pulled on the boots next – they went up to just below my knee, which is what I wanted.
Experiment Time
With both pieces on, I looked in the mirror. Hmm, not bad, but something was missing. The dress felt a bit too, I don’t know, summery? So, I decided to add a belt. I have this wide brown leather belt that I thought might help cinch in the waist and give the outfit a bit more structure.
Wrapped the belt around my waist, and yeah, that’s better! It definitely made the dress look less like I was heading to a picnic and more like I was ready for a chilly day out. But I still felt like it needed one more thing.
A jacket! I grabbed my trusty faux leather jacket. It’s black, so it matched the boots, and it added that extra layer of warmth I needed. Plus, it gave the whole look a bit of an edge, which I liked.
Final Touches
Slipped on the jacket, adjusted the collar a bit, and there it was. The complete outfit. I even added a simple necklace and a pair of hoop earrings to finish it off.

Honestly, I was pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s definitely a different look for me, but I think it works. The boots and the jacket made the dress feel more fall-appropriate, and the belt helped tie everything together. I might actually wear this out sometime. What do you guys think?
And that’s how I styled my midi dress with knee-high boots. It was a fun little experiment, and I’m glad I tried it. Maybe I’ll play around with some other combinations next time. Stay tuned!
