Okay, so I’ve been seeing these Mason Pearson hairbrushes everywhere lately. They’re, like, the Rolls Royce of hairbrushes, right? But the price tag? Insane! I had to know what the deal was, so I decided to do some digging and, well, even bought one to see for myself.

Why Are Mason Pearson Brushes So Expensive? Heres the Real Reason!

First off, I started by checking out what people online were saying. Lots of folks were talking about how these brushes are handmade in England. Apparently, they’ve been doing it that way since, like, forever (1885!). And get this, they have a one-year warranty, which is cool. They even give you this little nylon brush to clean your fancy hairbrush with. The idea is, if you take good care of it, it’ll last you a lifetime. It’s supposed to be the last hairbrush you ever buy.

Then I found out something even cooler. Since May, they started putting a QR code and a hologram on the boxes. Why? So you can check if your brush is the real deal! Gotta love that, right? You can actually track and trace your brush to make sure it’s genuine. I thought that was pretty neat.

I also learned that these natural hair brushes are totally different from those cheap plastic ones. The way they work on your hair is just not the same. I read somewhere that it’s actually good to have both kinds, but these Mason Pearson ones are supposed to be, like, a serious investment.

Now, I compared it to another brush, this Denman one, which is still pretty pricey at $48. This one has a mix of nylon and boar bristles. It looks pretty similar to the Mason Pearson in terms of how the bristles are laid out.

But let’s be real here. It also have some bad things. The biggest drawback? The price. It’s a big chunk of change to drop on a hairbrush. I mean, we’re talking about a serious investment here.

My Experience

So, I finally caved and bought one. I wanted to see if it was really worth all the hype.

  • Unboxing: The packaging was nice, felt premium, just like you’d expect for the price.
  • First Brush: Honestly, it felt…different. Not bad, just different. It glided through my hair pretty smoothly.
  • Over Time: I started noticing that my hair did seem a little shinier and maybe even a bit softer. Placebo effect? Maybe. But I liked it.

Look, are these Mason Pearson brushes expensive? You bet. Are they for everyone? Probably not. But after using one for a while, I can kinda see why they have such a cult following. I wouldn’t say they magically transformed my hair, but there’s definitely something to them. It felt good to use, and if it really does last forever, then maybe, just maybe, it’s worth the investment. At least, that’s what I’m telling myself to justify the splurge!
