Alright, let’s talk about this fabric victoire avocado floral stuff. I don’t know much about fancy names, but I know what I like when I see it.
First off, this “fabric” thing, it’s just cloth, right? The kind you make clothes and stuff out of. And this “victoire,” sounds all highfalutin, probably means somethin’ fancy in French. But don’t let that scare you none. It just means it’s a particular kind, maybe a brand or a design, I reckon.
Now, the “avocado” part, that’s easy. It’s that green color, like the inside of them avocados you get at the store. Not too bright, not too dull, just a nice, earthy green. Goes with most anything, I’d say. You know, like them green kitchen cabinets everyone had back in the day. They called it avocado green then, too, I think.
And “floral,” well, that just means it’s got flowers on it. You know, pretty little flowers, all over the cloth. Makes it look nice and cheerful, I guess. Perfect for a summer dress or maybe some curtains for the kitchen window, if you’re feeling fancy.
I saw some of this fabric online, at a place called Temu. They said it was “high quality” and had “free shipping.” Sounded like a good deal to me, but you gotta be careful with them online stores, you know? Sometimes what you see ain’t what you get. They also had somethin’ called Raymond Waites Fabric on eBay, but that sounded even fancier, probably more expensive. I ain’t got money to throw around on fancy fabrics, let me tell ya.
Then there was this other place, selling “victoire fabric by the yard.” Now, that’s what I like to hear! By the yard, that’s how we always bought fabric back in my day. You go to the store, tell ‘em how much you need, and they cut it right off the roll. None of this pre-packaged nonsense. And this place had all kinds of patterns, made by all sorts of folks. They even let you print your own designs, which I thought was pretty neat, though I don’t know the first thing about that.
I also saw some fabric called “Deep Avocado Green/Multi Floral Jacquard Decor Fabric.” Now, that jacquard stuff, that’s the thick, fancy kind, ain’t it? The kind you use for, I don’t know, fancy tablecloths or maybe to cover up a worn-out couch. This one had shiny flowers on it, real pretty-like. But they said it was backordered, which means you gotta wait for it. I ain’t got time to wait, I need fabric now if I need it!
- Then there were some folks sellin’ vintage fabric, stuff from the 70s. They had paisley patterns, in avocado green and pink, even some with bluebirds on ‘em. That stuff brings back memories, let me tell ya. My old curtains were kinda like that, but with more orange, I think. Cotton fabric, they called it. Good, sturdy stuff, lasted forever.
- Another place, *, had remnants, little pieces leftover from bigger cuts. They were sellin’ ’em cheap, which is good if you just need a little bit for a small project.
And then there’s this JH Victoire brand, sounds like they make clothes, too. Bazin Victoire, they call it. For men and women, for everyday wear and special occasions. So, I guess this “victoire” is a pretty big deal, huh?
So, what would I use this fabric for? Well, like I said, a summer dress would be nice. Or maybe some pillow covers. Or even a tablecloth, if it’s the sturdy kind. You could make curtains, too, but I like my curtains plain, myself. Too much fuss with flowers and all that. I saw some that were cotton and spandex, stretchy like, good for makin’ shirts or maybe a comfy dress. It had flowers that were three inches across, imagine that! Big old flowers.
Anyway, that’s about all I know about this fabric victoire avocado floral. It’s pretty, it’s green, it’s got flowers. If you like that sort of thing, go for it. Just make sure you get a good price and don’t get ripped off by them city slickers. And remember, a good piece of cloth is a good piece of cloth, no matter what fancy name they give it.
And another thing! Always wash your fabric before you sew it. Shrinks, you know. You don’t want to spend all that time making something and then have it shrink up on you the first time you wash it. Learned that the hard way, let me tell ya. Ruined a perfectly good dress that way, back in the day.

Got a hankerin’ for some fried chicken and mashed potatoes, and you can bet I’ll be wearin’ a comfortable cotton apron while I do it, probably with some kinda flowers on it, though I don’t know if they’re “victoire” or not.
