Alright, let’s gab about them dress with brooch thingies, you know, the shiny stuff you stick on your clothes. I seen folks wearin’ ’em, all fancy-like. Makes a plain ol’ dress look…well, less plain, I guess.

First off, what is these brooches anyways? They’re like…jewelry, but not for your neck or fingers. You pin ’em on, see? Some are big, some are small. Some sparkle like crazy, others look like, I dunno, a bug or somethin’. But they all do the same thing: make your clothes look a bit more…spruced up. Yeah, that’s the word, spruced up.
Now, I ain’t no fashion expert, mind you. I wear what’s comfy and what covers me up good. But even I can see that a little shiny thing can make a difference. Like, you got this old dress, right? Worn it a hundred times. Stick a brooch on it, bam! Looks almost new…or at least different. It’s like…foolin’ the eyes, ya know?
So, how do you wear these brooches? Well, from what I seen, there ain’t no hard and fast rules. You can stick ’em near the collar, on the shoulder, even on your belt. I seen some gals puttin’ a big one right in the middle of their chest. Bold, I tell ya. Real bold.
- On a dress: That’s what we’re talkin’ about, right? Near the neck is common, or maybe on the side. Depends on the dress, I reckon. If it’s got a collar, stick it right below it. No collar? Go wild!
- On a coat: Yeah, you can fancy up your coat too. Makes it look less like you just grabbed it off the hook and more like you… planned it, I guess.
- On a scarf: This is a new one for me, but I seen it. You wrap a scarf around your neck, then stick a brooch on it to hold it in place. Kinda clever, huh?
- On a hat: Now, this is gettin’ fancy. I ain’t worn a hat since… well, never mind. But if you’re the hat-wearin’ type, a brooch can make it look… well, hat-ier.
What kind of brooches are there? Lord, there’s all sorts. Some are made of shiny metal, like gold or silver, but I don’t know if it’s real, probably not. Others got them sparkly stones, like diamonds, but again mostly not real. Some got pearls, some got beads, some got pictures in ’em, and some just…look like stuff. Flowers, animals, shapes…you name it, they probably got it in a brooch.
And let’s not forget about matchin’ them brooches with the rest of your…getup. That’s what them fancy magazines call it, a “getup.” If you’re wearin’ somethin’ plain, a bright and sparkly brooch might be just the ticket. But if you’ve got a lot goin’ on already, maybe a simple one is better. You don’t want to look like a Christmas tree, all lit up and jangly. Unless that’s what you’re goin’ for, of course. Then, you know, go for it. Who am I to judge?

But where do you get these brooches? Well, I seen ’em in stores, them fancy ones with the high prices. And I seen ’em at flea markets too, all jumbled up in boxes. You can probably find ’em online too, but I ain’t too good with that computer stuff. My grandson, he helps me sometimes. Nice boy, that one. Always patient with his old grandma.
Now, some folks say brooches are old-fashioned. Maybe they are. But you know what? Old-fashioned things come back around. Like them big skirts, or them high-waisted pants. Everything comes back around eventually. And a brooch, well, it’s just a little somethin’ extra. A little sparkle, a little personality. And who don’t want a little bit of that?
So, there you have it. My two cents on dresses with brooches. Not that my two cents are worth much, mind you. But hey, I seen a thing or two in my time. And I know that a little bit of somethin’ shiny can make a whole lotta difference. It can make you feel good, make you feel fancy, make you feel like…well, like you’re ready to take on the world, one sparkly brooch at a time.
Just remember this: Wear what you like, wear what makes you happy. And if a brooch does that for you, then pin that sucker on and strut your stuff. Don’t let nobody tell you different. Life’s too short to worry about what other folks think. You wear that dress with a brooch and you wear it proud.
