Okay, so I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect designer messenger bag for a while now. You know, something that’s chic but also practical for everyday use. I finally decided to bite the bullet and start looking at some actual designer options. It was a bit of a journey, let me tell you!

First, I hit up some department stores’ websites. I figured that would be a good place to start, just to get an idea of what’s out there and how much these things actually cost. I browsed through Bloomingdale’s website and, oh boy, were there some beautiful bags. I saw a MCM Klassik Small Maxi Monogram for $990, a Callista Iconic Slim Messenger for $490 and a Pre-Owned Goyard Capetien Messenger for $2,862. Just window shopping at this point, mostly gasping at the prices, haha.

Then I moved on to Nordstrom’s site. They had a pretty decent selection of designer crossbody bags, which are kind of similar to messenger bags, right? I spotted some gorgeous pieces from big names like YSL and Burberry. Let me tell you, those bags were drool-worthy. I also found a Valentino Garavani Rockstud bag for around $2k there. It’s a bit too expensive for me now.

After that, I decided to check out some local boutiques. You never know what hidden gems you might find, and I kind of like the idea of supporting smaller businesses. I visited a few stores, tried on some bags, and even chatted with the store owners about what I was looking for.

    Things I found out:

  • Designer messenger bags are not cheap. Duh, right? But seeing those price tags in person really makes it sink in.
  • There are so many different styles. From sleek and minimalist to bold and statement-making, there’s a designer messenger bag for every taste.
  • The material makes a big difference. Leather, canvas, nylon each material gives the bag a totally different look and feel.

I haven’t pulled the trigger on a bag yet. It’s a big investment, and I want to make sure I choose the right one. But this whole process has been super fun, and I’ve learned a lot about what I like and don’t like in a bag. I think I’m getting closer to finding “the one,” though. I’ll keep you guys updated!
