Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of stuff about TikTok Shop lately, and I got curious. Could I really get scammed on there? I decided to find out for myself.
First, I browsed through the TikTok Shop for a while, just looking at what they had. It’s a lot of random stuff, you know? Clothes, gadgets, beauty products, that kind of thing. I noticed some items that looked suspiciously cheap. Like, “too good to be true” cheap. That got me thinking, maybe some of these sellers aren’t exactly legit.
So, I decided to do a little experiment. I picked out a few items that looked like they could be fake or just really low quality. I made sure to choose things from different sellers, some verified, some not. I didn’t spend a lot of money, just enough to test the waters. Then i paid for them.
Then came the waiting game. A few days later, some of the stuff started arriving. And let me tell you, it was a mixed bag.
- One item, a phone case I ordered, never even showed up. I contacted the seller, but they just gave me the runaround. Total waste of money.
- Another item, a T-shirt, arrived but it was terrible quality. The material was super thin, and the print looked like it would wash off after one wash. It definitely wasn’t worth the money I paid for it.
- Surprisingly, a couple of items were actually okay. They weren’t amazing, but they were as described and the quality was decent. Those came from verified sellers, which makes sense.
After receiving all of that, I tried to use the TikTok Shop’s “buyer protection” thing. It says they offer refunds for 90 days, which sounds good. But getting a refund for that missing phone case? Forget about it. I tried to contact TikTok Shop directly but did not get any response.
So, can you get scammed on TikTok Shop? Based on my experience, yeah, you definitely can. It’s not all bad, but you gotta be really careful.
My advice?
- Stick to verified sellers. It’s not a guarantee, but it’s better than nothing.
- Don’t spend a lot of money, especially on your first order.
- If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
- Don’t use your credit card.
Honestly, I don’t think I’ll be using TikTok Shop much in the future. It’s just not worth the risk for me. There are plenty of other places to shop online where you don’t have to worry about getting scammed. I just want to share my experience, so be careful when you guys shopping on TikTok Shop. It is not as good as it looks.
