Okay, so I saw this thing about Zendaya’s new Vogue cover for May 2024 and I got inspired to take some pictures.

First, I started looking at the cover photos.
It seems like she did two shoots, one for British Vogue and one for the US version. They are so different! One is super fancy, like couture, and the other is more, I don’t know, spring-like?
Anyways, I focused on the American Vogue one because it’s simpler to imitate. The photo was taken by a photographer, Annie Leibovitz. Zendaya’s wearing this dress with roses in it.
I don’t have a rose dress, so I decided to get creative.
- I found a plain white dress that I could use as a base.
- Then, I went to the local flower shop and bought a bunch of fresh roses. Different shades, you know, to make it interesting.
- I spent a good hour just arranging the roses on the dress.
Sewed some, pinned others. It was a whole process, let me tell you.

Once the dress was ready, I set up a little photoshoot area in my living room.
I used a white sheet as a backdrop and tried to get the lighting right with a couple of lamps. It wasn’t perfect, but it worked.
I took a ton of photos, trying to copy Zendaya’s pose from the cover. It’s harder than it looks!
She’s a natural in front of the camera. I had to take breaks because I was getting all tense.
After a couple of hours, I finally got a few shots that I liked. They’re not Vogue-level, obviously, but I’m pretty happy with how they turned out.

It Was a Fun Experience
It was a fun experience, trying to recreate a high-fashion moment on a budget. Makes you appreciate all the work that goes into these photoshoots. I will do it again next time.
