Okay, so let me tell you about this little project I got into, trying to recreate some of the fashion vibes from 2014. It was a real trip down memory lane, let me tell you!

Starting Point
First off, I dug through a ton of old fashion blogs and magazines from 2014. I mean, we’re talking hours of scrolling and flipping pages. I wanted to get a real feel for what was hot back then, you know?
Gathering Intel
I noticed a few things that kept popping up. Monochrome was huge – black and white everything. But it wasn’t just plain old black and white. There was a lot of focus on the details, like cool geometric patterns and this interesting couture-like stuff. Skirts were also a big deal, especially the midi ones. They weren’t the maxi skirts or the pencil skirts, but something in between. And pastels, oh boy, pastels were everywhere! Mint green, baby blue, lilac – you name it.
The Experiment
- First, I hit up some thrift stores. I was on the hunt for anything black and white with interesting patterns or cuts.
- Then, I tried to find some of those midi skirts. It wasn’t easy, but I managed to snag a couple.
- Pastels were a bit easier to come by. I already had a few pieces in my closet, so I mixed and matched those with some new finds.
Putting It All Together
This was the fun part. I started mixing and matching the pieces I had gathered. I paired a black and white geometric top with one of the midi skirts and some plain white sneakers. For the pastel look, I wore a mint green top with some light-wash denim jeans. It felt surprisingly fresh, even though it was a throwback.
The Results
Honestly, it was a blast putting these outfits together. It really took me back to 2014, but in a good way. It also showed me how some trends can be timeless if you focus on the right elements, like good design and interesting details. Plus, it was a fun way to experiment with my style without spending a ton of money.
So yeah, that’s my little fashion experiment. It was a cool way to revisit the past and see how those trends hold up today. I hope you enjoyed it. Maybe it’ll inspire you to try something similar! Let me know if you have!
