Okay, so, let’s talk about fashion in 2016. Man, that year was a trip, right? Not just in fashion, but everything. Like, remember Brexit? And that crazy U.S. election? It felt like the whole world was going off the rails. But hey, at least the fashion was interesting.

2016 Fashion Flashback: Relive the Years Best Looks!

First off, I started noticing all these big-name designers were shaking things up. I read something about Demna Gvasalia taking over Balenciaga, and he was doing some wild stuff. Totally different vibe than before. And then there was this show in Rome, Fendi, I think? Where they made the models walk on water? How cool is that? I tried to find some pictures to show people, it was seriously impressive.

Supermodels and Celebrities

  • Then, of course, you had all the supermodels doing their thing. They were everywhere. I remember seeing them all over the runways, like a parade of goddesses.
  • And don’t even get me started on the celebs. Michelle Obama was killing it with her style. So elegant, you know?
  • And Lady Gaga dressed up as David Bowie, which was amazing. I tried to copy her look once, didn’t quite pull it off, haha.
  • Rihanna was just being Rihanna, setting trends left and right. I bought some of the pieces she was sporting.

Sportswear and Shoulders

I also noticed a lot of sportswear making its way into high fashion. Like, suddenly it was okay to wear sneakers with a fancy dress. Which was great for me, ’cause I’m all about comfort. I started to see Beyonce’s sportswear everywhere. I heard something about sustainable fashion becoming a thing, which I thought was pretty cool. About time, right?

Oh, and the shoulder pads! They were back in a big way. I actually dug out some of my mom’s old clothes from the 80s, and they were totally in style again. I wore this one blazer with these massive shoulder pads, and I felt like a boss. 2016 was all about being bold and trying new things, and I was here for it. I attempted to mix and match different styles, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. But hey, that’s fashion, right? You gotta experiment.

And in the middle of all this, there was something about Raf Simons going to Calvin Klein. I saw some news about it online, and it sounded like a big deal for the New York fashion scene. I didn’t really get it at the time, but it was all anyone could talk about. All in all, 2016 was a wild year for fashion. Lots of changes, lots of bold choices. I had a lot of fun experimenting with my style that year, and I think a lot of other people did too. We learned not to be afraid of change, and to embrace the unexpected. I guess it was a good year, after all.
