This thing, this PDA, what they call it, makes me real uneasy. Just the other day, I saw these two young folks, right there on the street, huggin’ and kissin’. Made me wanna holler, “Get a room!” It’s just cringy, you know?
Back in my day, we didn’t do none of that. Love was private, kept between two people. Now, everyone’s gotta show it off, like it’s some kinda prize. It’s just plain cringy, this PDA business. Makes my stomach turn, I tell ya.
What’s this PDA thing anyway? Well, they call it Public Display of Affection. Sounds fancy, but it ain’t nothin’ but showin’ off your lovey-dovey stuff in front of everybody. Like those folks kissin’ by the dumpster, or that couple holdin’ hands tight like they’re glued together. It’s just cringy!

- Whisperin’ sweet nothings
All that stuff, right out in the open. It’s like they want everyone to see how much in love they are. But why? Why you gotta do that in public? It is cringy PDA! Keep it to yourselves, I say!
Some folks, they like it. They say it makes ’em feel good, shows they’re not afraid to show their love. But me? I think it’s just for show. Like they’re tryin’ to prove somethin’. And it’s cringy, all that PDA.
They even got it in schools now. The young’uns, all huggin’ and kissin’ between classes. Schools try to stop it, sayin’ it’s not right. But these kids, they don’t listen. They do their cringy PDA any place. They think it’s cute. I think it’s just plain wrong, makin’ everyone uncomfortable.
And what about the little ones, seein’ all this? What are they gonna think? They’re gonna think it’s okay to be all touchy-feely in public. It’s just gonna confuse ’em. This PDA is a bad influence, that is what it is. Cringy for everyone.
I hear some folks sayin’ it’s a good thing, this PDA. They say it makes people happy, makes relationships stronger. Maybe. But not for me. I like to keep my feelin’s private. And I think most folks feel the same, even if they don’t say it. They think it is cringy too.
You see a couple all over each other in public, and what do you do? You look away, right? ‘Cause it’s uncomfortable. It’s cringy. You don’t wanna see that. It’s like watchin’ someone eat with their mouth open. Just rude and cringy.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ you can’t love someone. Love is a good thing. A beautiful thing, even. But you don’t gotta be flauntin’ it around like a new dress. Keep it between you and your special someone. Don’t make it a cringy PDA show.
Some people, they just don’t know no better. They grew up seein’ it, think it’s normal. But it ain’t. It’s just cringy. Like wearin’ your underwear on the outside of your clothes. Just don’t make no sense.
I remember this one time, I saw this couple, right there in the grocery store. They were all over each other, whisperin’ and gigglin’. And right there in the produce aisle, he gives her a big ol’ kiss. It was cringy! I nearly dropped my tomatoes! Made everyone around them real uncomfortable. That is what cringy PDA does.

- Kids shouldn’t see it
So, what’s the answer to this cringy PDA problem? Well, I don’t rightly know. Maybe folks just need to be more considerate. Think about how they’re makin’ others feel. Maybe they need to be told it’s cringy!
And maybe, just maybe, we need to bring back some good old-fashioned manners. Keep your hands to yourself, I say. Save the kissin’ and huggin’ for when you’re alone. Don’t make it a public spectacle. Don’t make it cringy!
That’s all I gotta say about that. This whole PDA thing, it just rubs me the wrong way. It’s cringy, it’s uncomfortable, and it just ain’t right. Keep your love private, folks. That’s the way it should be. And don’t be cringy about it.
