Alright, so I’ve been seeing this “bardot fringe” thing all over my feed, and it looked pretty cool, so I thought, why not give it a shot? I mean, my hair’s been kinda boring lately anyway.
First off, I scoured the internet for some inspo pics. You know, just to get a general idea of what I was going for. There’s a ton of different styles, but I was leaning towards something a bit more choppy and textured.
My DIY Haircut Journey
Then came the scary part – actually cutting my own hair. I grabbed my trusty hair-cutting scissors (which, let’s be honest, I probably should’ve sharpened beforehand), sectioned off the front part of my hair, and just went for it. I started by trimming a little at a time, constantly checking the length and making sure it was even.
- Gathered my tools: scissors, comb, hair clips.
- Watched a couple of quick tutorials online (just to make sure I wasn’t totally messing it up).
- Started with a small section of hair in the middle, then worked my way outwards.
- Used a point-cutting technique to add some texture.
- Freaked out a little bit in the middle, but kept going.
It was definitely a bit nerve-wracking, not gonna lie. I took breaks, stepped back to look at it from different angles, and tried not to panic. After what felt like forever, I finally got it to a point where I didn’t totally hate it.
Styling it was the next hurdle. I played around with a round brush and my blow dryer, trying to get that effortless, swept-back look. It took a few tries, but I eventually figured out a method that worked for me. A bit of texturizing spray also helped to give it some extra oomph.
Honestly, the whole process was way more intense than I expected. But you know what? I kinda dig the results. It’s definitely a change from my usual style, and it’s fun to play around with different looks. Plus, I saved myself a trip to the salon, which is always a win.
If you’re thinking about trying the bardot fringe, I say go for it! Just maybe do a bit more research than I did, and if you are not sure, work with your hairdresser to find a way that fit you most. And be prepared to spend some quality time with your scissors and styling tools.
