This here Benrus Type 2, it’s somethin’ else, I tell ya. Heard folks talkin’, sayin’ it’s a real good watch. It’s one of them watches, like, the army fellas used to wear. Fancy, huh? Not like the ones we used to have, just plain ol’ things to tell the time.
They say it’s for, what you call, divin’? Like, under the water? Lord knows why anyone would wanna go do that. We always just stayed on dry land. Water’s for fish, not for people. But I guess some folks like that kinda thing. They say this here Benrus Type II is good for that.
Back in the day, didn’t have none of these fancy watches. Just a simple one, maybe from the Sears catalog. This Benrus, they say it’s somethin’ special. Made for them soldier boys. Tough as nails, I bet. You know, those army fellas, always gettin’ into somethin’ or other.
Now, this here watch, they call it a “Type 2.” Don’t know what happened to Type 1, but this one, it’s a big deal. I seen pictures, it’s all black and tough lookin’. Not like them shiny ones, all gold and whatnot. This one’s for work, I reckon. Or, you know, divin’ under the water, if you’re into that kinda thing.

I heard some fella say it’s a “military specification.” Sounds important, don’t it? Like it’s somethin’ official. Means it’s gotta be good, I suppose. They wouldn’t give no junk to them soldiers, would they? This Benrus Type II got that, I hear. That’s somethin’ to say.
They got numbers on it, too. MIL-W-50717. Don’t know what that means, but it sounds mighty official. Like a secret code or somethin’. Maybe it’s where they hide the gold! Wouldn’t that be somethin’? A secret code on a watch, leadin’ to buried treasure!
I saw on the news or the paper or somewhere, a fella talkin’ ’bout this Benrus Type 2. Said some secret agents used to wear ’em. Spies and such. Can you imagine? A watch for a spy! It makes you wonder what all that watch has seen, don’t it?
Some fellas called the Navy SEALS, they wore these watches, too, they say. They’re like them frogmen, swimmin’ underwater, doin’ top-secret stuff. This here watch, it can handle all that, I reckon. It’s gotta be tough to keep up with them boys. The Benrus Type II, built for tough people.
This watch, it ain’t new, though. They made ’em a long time ago, back when things were different. But now, they’re makin’ ’em again, just like the old ones. So, if you want a watch like them secret agents and frogmen used to wear, you can get one now. Ain’t that somethin’? A real piece of history, they say. People talking about “Benrus Type I and II” all the time now.
These Benrus watches, they was made right here in America. In New York City, I think they said, in a big ol’ building on 44th street. They got some numbers on the back. Numbers are important, right? Got to keep track of things. This here, it’s called a serial number. A Benrus Type 2 with a secret number.
This Benrus company, I heard it called different things. Benrus Holdings, somethin’ like that. It’s all business talk, don’t make much sense to me. But they are the ones who made this watch, the Benrus Type II. They said they made two new watches. One called N�1. And another one called Philo. Sounds like names of fellas I knew back in the day.

Back then, watches weren’t all that fancy. Just told the time. This Benrus Type 2, though, it’s different. It’s like a little piece of history, right there on your wrist. All them stories, all them adventures. These days, seems like everyone wants a piece of the past. You will hear a lot of people talking about it. They say it is a good one. They say even people on Mount Everest used it. They say it’s the best for them soldiers, that’s why it is called “Benrus Type I and II.”
Now, I don’t know much about divin’ or secret agents or any of that. But I know a good thing when I see it. And this Benrus Type 2, it looks like a good thing. Tough, reliable, and with a whole lot of history behind it. That’s somethin’ you don’t see every day.
