Okay, so I’ve been messing around with my look lately, and today’s experiment was all about the brows. My hair’s black, like, really black, and I’ve always wondered if I should go dark brown or stick with black for my eyebrows. Today, I decided, why not try both?

Brown Brows Black Hair: How to Make This Look Work for You

Started off with my usual morning routine – you know, the whole face-washing, moisturizing gig. Then, I grabbed my eyebrow pencils. I’ve got this one dark brown one that’s almost black and, of course, a straight-up black one.

First, I went in with the dark brown. I carefully filled in my brows, trying to keep it light and natural. I used short, feathery strokes, just like those makeup gurus always say. I have to admit, it looked pretty good! It gave my brows definition without being too harsh. They looked fuller, but still soft, you know? It was like, “Oh, hey there, brows, looking good without trying too hard.”

  • Dark brown pencil test: Filled in brows with light, feathery strokes.
  • Result: Softer, more natural look.

But I wasn’t done. I wanted to see the difference, so on the other brow, I went full-on black. This time, I was a bit more heavy-handed, really making sure those brows were dark and defined. And wow, the contrast was definitely there. The black was bold, it was dramatic, and it kind of made my eyes pop. But, it also felt a little…intense? Like, maybe not the best for a casual Tuesday, haha.

  • Black pencil test: Filled in brows more boldly.
  • Result: More dramatic, intense look.

The Mix-up

Then things got interesting. I had this crazy idea to try and blend them. So I started adding a little bit of the dark brown over the black one. It actually worked pretty well, it softened the black a little, I tried the charcoal thing too. I mixed some aloe vera gel (that stuff is a lifesaver, by the way), cocoa powder, a bit of vitamin E oil, and some activated charcoal powder, mixed them all together. It took a few tries to get the color right, but I finally got a nice dark paste. I put it on my brows with a clean Q-tip and waited for about 20 minutes. When I washed it off, my brows had a nice, darker tint to them. It was like a little DIY brow tint, and it definitely looked more natural than the straight-up black pencil.

  • Mixing test: Layered dark brown over black, also tried a DIY charcoal tint.
  • Result: A good blend, with the charcoal tint providing a more natural, darker look.

At the end of the day, I think I’m leaning towards the dark brown or maybe the charcoal tint, it just feels more “me” for everyday stuff. The black is cool for when I want to feel a bit more glam, but for now, I’m all about that softer look. It’s been a fun little experiment, though! It’s amazing how much your brows can change your whole look.
