Okay, so, I’ve been watching “Mad Men” lately. I got really into Don Draper’s style. I mean, the guy’s got this classic look down, right? So, I decided to try and get some of that look for myself.

First, I scoured the internet for some inspiration. I looked at a ton of pictures of Don Draper, trying to figure out what made his style so iconic. It’s all about those classic American suits, mostly in grays and navies. And he always has a crisp white shirt on, with a simple tie. That’s the basic look.
Finding the Right Suit
Next, I went suit shopping. This was a whole thing. I hit up a bunch of different stores, trying on different styles and colors. I’m not gonna lie, it was a little overwhelming. But I kept Don’s look in mind: simple, classic, well-fitting. Eventually, I found a couple of suits that I think are pretty close. One is a nice charcoal gray, and the other is a dark navy. They’re not exactly like Don’s, but hey, they fit well and they look sharp.
Shirt and Tie
Getting the right shirts was easier. I just picked up a few plain white button-downs. For ties, I tried to find some that were simple, not too flashy. I ended up getting a couple of solid-colored ones, and one with a subtle pattern. Gotta keep it understated, like Don.
The Little Things
Now, Don Draper’s not just about the suit. He’s got these little details that really make the look. So I also picked up a few tie bars and pocket squares. Just these small touches, you know? They make a difference, though. They add that little bit of polish to the whole outfit.
Putting it all Together
- Tried on the suits with the white shirts and different ties.
- Experimented with the tie bars and pocket squares.
- Looked in the mirror, a lot.
Honestly, it took a few tries to get the whole look right. But once I did, man, I felt good. Like, I could walk into a meeting and own the room, just like Don Draper.

So, yeah, that’s my Don Draper suit journey. It was a bit of a process, but totally worth it. I learned a lot about style, and I ended up with a look that I really like. It’s not exactly Don Draper, but it’s got that same kind of classic, confident vibe. And that’s what matters, right?
