Alright, let’s talk about this Timex Expedition Indiglo watch I’ve been messing around with. This whole thing started when I stumbled upon my old Timex watch in a drawer. I’d totally forgotten about it. It was dead as a doornail, so I figured I’d pop a new battery in and see what happens.

I got the battery and brought it back to life. Then it hit me – I remembered one of the coolest things about this watch was the Indiglo feature. You press a button, and the whole dial lights up in this bluish-green color. It’s super handy in the dark.

Testing the Indiglo

So, naturally, I started playing with the Indiglo. I was curious if it still worked as well as I remembered. I mean, this watch had been sitting in a drawer for who knows how long. First, I tried pressing the button a few times in a dimly lit room. Boom. It worked like a charm. The dial lit up, and I could easily read the time. But I wanted to push it further.

Next, I took it into a pitch-black room – the kind where you can’t see your hand in front of your face. Pressed the button, and sure enough, the Indiglo lit up the whole dial. I was really impressed. This feature is a lifesaver when you need to check the time in the middle of the night or in any dark place.

Playing Around with the Watch

After testing the Indiglo, I started messing with the other features of the watch. I set the time, played with the different modes, and just generally got reacquainted with it. It’s a pretty straightforward watch – nothing too fancy, but it gets the job done. I even went online to see what other people were saying about Timex Indiglo watches.

Turns out, a lot of folks are fans of the Indiglo feature. Some people mentioned that it can sometimes be a bit finicky, but for the most part, it seems to be pretty reliable. I also learned that Timex patented this Indiglo thing back in the late ’80s. That was a while ago and it is still pretty cool.

Durability Test

  • Water Resistance: I wore it in the shower a few times, no problems.
  • Drop Test: I “accidentally” dropped it on the floor a couple of times. It’s still ticking.
  • Scratch Test: I rubbed it against some rough surfaces. The crystal got a few minor scratches, but nothing major.

I did these little durability tests to see how it would hold up in everyday situations. I mean, it’s called an “Expedition” watch, right? It should be able to handle a little bit of rough handling. Overall, I was pretty satisfied with how it performed. It’s a solid, no-nonsense watch that can take a bit of a beating.

This whole experience reminded me why I liked this watch in the first place. It’s simple, reliable, and that Indiglo feature is just plain useful. If you’re looking for a watch that’s not going to break the bank and can handle everyday life, I’d say give a Timex Expedition Indiglo a shot. It might not have all the bells and whistles of some fancier watches, but it does what it’s supposed to do, and it does it well.

I didn’t do anything to the watch that would make the backlight work again. I know it will work once I get a new battery and I know I will enjoy having that feature work again.
