Alright, alright, let me tell you ‘bout this whole FP Journe thing, this… scandal, yeah? Heard folks whisperin’ ‘bout it, seen some things on that… inter-whatsit… internet thingy my grandkid showed me. Don’t rightly understand all them fancy words, but I’ll tell ya what I know, the way I know how.
So, this FP Journe fella, he makes watches, you see? Expensive ones. The kind rich folks buy, not like us, havin’ to count our pennies for a loaf of bread. These watches, they ain’t just tellin’ time, they’re… well, they’re like shiny rocks for rich people, I reckon. They show off how much money they got, I guess. Somethin’ called “independent watchmakin’,” they say. Means he makes ‘em all special-like, not like them other watches you see everywhere.

Well, these FP Journe watches, they were supposed to be at this fancy auction. Big houses, they call ‘em, the places that sell this stuff. But somethin’ went sour, like milk left out in the sun.
See, there was this woman, yeah? She was sellin’ stuff at a store, groceries and such. Nothin’ fancy like them watches. Just regular stuff, you know? Food, soap, things folks need every day. And she was doin’ somethin’… not right. Scannin’ things, chargin’ folks more than they shoulda paid. Little bits here and there, but it adds up, don’t it? Like stealin’ pennies from a blind man’s cup. Not right, not right at all. And somehow, this here woman, she got mixed up with them watches.
Now, I don’t rightly know how it all connects, but it seems like this watch fella, FP Journe, he didn’t want his watches bein’ sold alongside stuff that was… well, tainted, like that woman’s groceries. Heard tell he pulled his watches from the auction. Said he didn’t want his good name mixed up with somethin’ shady. And the big houses, the ones sellin’ the fancy stuff, they went along with him. Pulled their support, too, they did.
People started talkin’, of course. Whisperin’ behind their hands. Sayin’ all sorts of things. That FP Journe was bein’ too picky, too proud. That he shouldn’t be judgin’ everyone based on what one person did. But then, there was others who said he was right. That he had to protect his name, his reputation. That he couldn’t let his good work be dragged down by somethin’ bad. It’s like havin’ a good field of corn, and one rotten stalk starts to spread its rot to all the others, gotta get it out before it ruins everything.
It’s a mess, is what it is. A whole heap of trouble over fancy watches and a woman who cheated folks out of a few dollars. Makes you wonder, don’t it? All this money, all this fuss, over things that don’t really matter in the end. We still gotta eat, gotta sleep, gotta take care of our families. And them watches, well, they just sit there, tickin’ away, tellin’ time that keeps on movin’, no matter what scandals happen.
Folks are callin’ it the “FP Journe scandal,” they are. Like it’s somethin’ big, somethin’ important. Maybe it is, to them fancy folks who buy them watches. But to me, it’s just another story of greed and foolishness. People tryin’ to get ahead, no matter who they hurt along the way. And in the end, nobody really wins, do they? Just a bunch of hurt feelin’s and wasted time.
I tell ya, give me a good, honest day’s work, and a warm meal at the end of it. That’s worth more than all them shiny watches in the world.
This whole thing got me thinkin’ though. Even them rich folks with their fancy watches, they got problems too. Money don’t buy you happiness, and it sure don’t buy you common sense, seein’ how this whole thing played out. Just goes to show you, we’re all just people, tryin’ to make our way in this world, rich or poor. And sometimes, we make mistakes. Big ones. And sometimes, them mistakes cost us more than just money. They cost us our good name, our trust, our peace of mind. That’s the real scandal, I reckon.
