Alright, so, I wanted to make some Halloween purses and handbags. It’s not as easy as it sounds, let me tell you. I started this whole thing thinking, “How hard could it be?” Well, I found out.

First, I started to look for some inspiration. I searched online for things like “Halloween purse” and “spooky handbag.” I saw a bunch of cool stuff, like this bloody knife print clutch and a cute ghost purse. There were also some classic pumpkin-themed bags. It gave me some good ideas, but I wanted to make something unique, you know?
Then, I started gathering materials. I thought about using regular fabric, but then I decided to go with PU leather because it seemed more durable. Plus, it looks kinda fancy. I also got some chains and buckles to make the straps and some other accessories like spooky charms and stuff.
Making the Purse
- Designing: I sketched out a few designs first. I tried a bat-shaped purse, a coffin-shaped one, and even one that looked like a witch’s hat. It was fun but also pretty challenging to come up with something that looked good and was also practical.
- Cutting and Sewing: This was the hardest part. I had to cut the leather according to my designs, which was tricky because I didn’t want to mess it up. Sewing leather is also way harder than sewing regular fabric. My sewing machine was definitely not happy with me.
- Adding Details: After I sewed the basic shapes together, I started adding details. I used some black and orange thread to create some spiderweb patterns on one of the bags. On another one, I attached a little ghost charm that I found. It was pretty cute.
Honestly, it took me way longer than I expected. I spent several evenings working on these purses, and there were a few times when I almost gave up. But I kept going, and finally, I finished them!
They turned out pretty good, I think. They’re definitely not perfect, but they’re unique, and they have that Halloween vibe I was going for. I even used one of them when I went to a Halloween party last weekend, and I got a few compliments. So, yeah, it was a lot of work, but in the end, it was worth it. Making these Halloween purses and handbags was a real adventure, and I learned a lot. I’m not sure if I’ll do it again next year, but who knows? Maybe I’ll get inspired again!
