So today I was thinking, why not try my hand at making some Mickey Mouse jewelry? Yeah, the iconic mouse himself! I’ve always been a fan of those cute little ears.

First off, I needed a design. I searched online and saw a bunch of different styles. There were necklaces, earrings, even bracelets! I decided to start with a simple pendant necklace ’cause it seemed like the easiest thing to make. I sketched out a few ideas, finally settling on a classic Mickey head silhouette. Simple, recognizable, you know?
Next up, materials. I didn’t want to use anything too fancy since this was my first attempt. I hit up a local craft store and grabbed some silver-plated wire and a few cubic zirconia stones for a little sparkle. I also picked up some basic jewelry-making tools, like pliers and wire cutters. I already had a chain at home that I figured would work perfectly.
Once I got home, I laid everything out on my table and got to work. I started by bending the wire into the shape of Mickey’s head. It took a few tries to get it right, the wire was a little more stubborn than I expected! But I kept at it, and eventually, I had a pretty decent-looking Mickey head.
- Bending the wire into the right shape.
- Attaching the cubic zirconia stones.
- Adding a loop at the top for the chain.
Then came the tricky part – adding the cubic zirconia. I used a tiny bit of jewelry glue to secure them in place. I placed one stone in each ear and one for his nose. It was a bit fiddly, but I managed to get them all in there without making too much of a mess.
Finally, I added a small loop at the top of the pendant so I could hang it on the chain. And voila! My very own handmade Mickey Mouse pendant necklace. It’s not perfect, a little rough around the edges, but I’m pretty proud of it. It actually turned out kind of cute!

I’ve been wearing it around for a few days now, and I’ve already gotten a few compliments. Who knew making jewelry could be so much fun? I’m already thinking about my next project. Maybe some Minnie Mouse earrings to match?
What I learned
- Jewelry making is harder than it looks!
- Patience is key when working with small pieces.
- It’s super satisfying to create something with your own hands.
So, that’s my little jewelry-making adventure. It was a fun way to spend an afternoon, and I ended up with a unique piece of jewelry. If you’re looking for a new hobby, I’d definitely recommend giving it a try. You might surprise yourself with what you can create!
