Alright, so I decided to go to Coachella this year and let me tell you, figuring out what shoes to wear was a whole thing. I mean, you gotta look good, but you also gotta survive those long days on your feet, right?

How to Choose Your Coachella Footwear: Tips and Tricks!

First, I started looking around online, checking out what people were saying about festival footwear. There were tons of suggestions, like gladiator sandals, ankle boots, and even those comfy Birkenstocks. Everyone was talking about how important it is to be comfortable, especially since you’re walking around for hours and standing in crowds.

I was really drawn to the gladiator sandals. They just scream “festival,” you know? But I was worried about whether they’d actually be comfortable enough. I have a pair of Birkenstocks too, and I know those are super comfy once you break them in. But would they look right with my outfits?

So, I did what any sane person would do: I tried on a bunch of different shoes with all my planned outfits. I walked around my house in them, trying to simulate a day at the festival. The gladiator sandals looked awesome, but after a while, my feet started to hurt. No way could I last a whole day in those.

The ankle boots were a maybe. They were more comfortable than the sandals but still not ideal. Plus, I wasn’t sure they were the right vibe for the desert heat. The Birkenstocks, though? Those were a dream. I wore them around for a whole day, and my feet felt great.

Here’s what I ended up deciding:

  • Day 1: Birkenstocks all the way. Comfort is king, especially on the first day when you’re getting used to the festival grounds.
  • Day 2: I might try to wear the ankle boots, maybe just for a few hours when I want to feel a bit more stylish, but I’ll bring the Birkenstocks as backup.
  • Day 3: Depending on how my feet feel, it’s either Birkenstocks again or maybe, just maybe, those gladiator sandals for a little while, just for the pics.

In the end, I realized that while looking good is important, being able to actually enjoy the festival without my feet killing me is way more important. So, Birkenstocks are definitely going to be my go-to. And hey, maybe I’ll get some cool, colorful ones to spice things up a bit. The lesson I am taking away is, always break in your shoes before any big event, especially if you are going to spend a long time on your feet.
