So, I wanted to try something new, something that I saw on the internet and thought, “Hey, that looks cool, I can do that!” It’s called hammer and nail art. Basically, you’re making art using just hammers, nails, and some string. I had all these things lying around the house, so I thought, why not give it a shot?

First, I grabbed a piece of wood. Any old piece will do, I used this scrap piece I found in my shed. Then I started thinking about what I wanted to make. I’m not the most artistic person, but I figured a simple heart shape would be easy enough. So I lightly drew a heart on the wood with a pencil. Just a rough sketch, nothing fancy.
Next, I took my hammer and a bunch of nails. The size of the nails doesn’t really matter, just use whatever you have. I began hammering nails along the outline of my heart. It took a while, and I definitely hit my fingers a couple of times, but eventually, I had a heart shape outlined in nails. It didn’t look perfect, but it was good enough for me.
- Hammered nails around the heart outline.
- Made sure the nails were evenly spaced.
- Tried not to bend the nails too much.
Then came the fun part – the string! I chose a bright red string because, well, it’s a heart. I tied one end of the string to a nail at the bottom of the heart and then just started wrapping. There’s no right or wrong way to do this, just go back and forth, up and down, until you like how it looks. I went around the whole heart, filling it in with the red string. It started to look like an actual piece of art!
Wrapping the String
- Tied the string to a starting nail.
- Wrapped the string around the nails in a random pattern.
- Made sure the string was taut.
When I was happy with how it looked, I tied off the string and cut the excess. And that was it! My very own hammer and nail art. It wasn’t perfect, and my fingers were a bit sore, but I was pretty proud of myself. I even hung it up on my wall. It’s a cool little decoration, and it’s a great conversation starter. Plus, it was a fun way to spend an afternoon. You should totally try it sometime!
I finished it and feel good! Nice!
