Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to shake things up with my wardrobe lately, and I thought, why not start with a classic: the Bobby outfit. I’ve seen it around, always looking sharp and put-together, but I never really gave it a go myself. So, this weekend, I decided to dive in and document the whole process.
Getting Started
First things first, I needed to figure out what exactly makes a “Bobby” outfit. From what I gathered, it’s all about that timeless, slightly preppy vibe. Think a well-fitted crew-neck jumper, maybe some tailored trousers or even dark jeans, and a decent pair of shoes.
The Experiment
I started by rummaging through my closet. I found a nice, navy blue crew-neck that I hadn’t worn in ages. Perfect! Then, I paired it with some slim-fit, dark grey jeans. I tried on a few pairs of shoes, going back and forth between some leather loafers and a pair of clean, white sneakers.
- Try 1: Crew-neck + dark jeans + loafers. It looked okay, but a bit too formal for what I was going for.
- Try 2: Switched the loafers for the sneakers. Much better! This felt more like me – still polished, but with a relaxed edge.
- Try 3: I swapped the jeans for some chinos. Definitely not the way to go, looked kind of off.
Final Touches
I ended up sticking with the crew-neck, dark jeans, and sneakers combo. To finish it off, I added a simple watch and a nice belt. I even considered a light jacket, but it felt a bit much for the sunny weather. Feeling pretty good about the whole thing, I decided to wear it out to grab coffee with a friend. Got a couple of compliments, so I guess it worked!
I think I am starting to find my own style and what I am attracted to, and this is really a good start. All in all, it was a fun little experiment. It’s amazing how a few simple pieces can come together to create a whole new look. I’ll definitely be trying out more variations of the Bobby outfit in the future. Maybe next time I’ll even brave the tailored trousers!
