Okay, so, I decided to become a Kendra Scott Campus Ambassador, or a “Gem” as they call it. It all started when I saw this post calling for college students to apply for their Gem Campus Ambassador Program. I thought, “Why not?” I’ve always liked their stuff, and it seemed like a fun way to get involved on campus.
First off, I filled out the application. It wasn’t too bad, just basic info and some questions about why I wanted to be a Gem. I talked about how I love their jewelry and how I’m all about their focus on family, fashion, and philanthropy. I mean, who wouldn’t want to represent a brand that’s all about giving back?
After hitting “submit,” I waited. And waited. Then, finally, I got an email saying I was in! I was so stoked. They sent over a bunch of info about what being a Gem entails. Basically, we’re like the face of Kendra Scott on campus. We get to host events, spread the word about the brand, and just generally be stylish and awesome.
- Hosted a “Kendra Gives Back” event at my sorority house. We raised money for a local charity, and everyone got to check out the new collection. It was a blast!
- Teamed up with the campus activities board to do a giveaway during finals week. Students were so happy to get a little something sparkly to brighten their day.
- Created content for social media. I love taking photos of the jewelry and coming up with fun captions.
The actual work of being a Gem is pretty varied. Some days I’m reaching out to student orgs to plan events, other days I’m posting on social media, and sometimes I’m just chatting with people about the brand. The role involves administrative tasks and delivering presentations, it’s a mixed bag, but I like the variety.
One of the coolest things about being a Gem is the community. We have a group chat where we all share ideas and support each other. It’s like having a built-in group of friends who are all passionate about the same things.
What did I achieve?
Being a Kendra Scott Gem has been such a rewarding experience. I’ve gotten to meet so many amazing people, developed new skills, and learned a lot about marketing and event planning. Plus, I get to wear some seriously cute jewelry. It’s a win-win! This experience, especially being a Senior Ambassador, is gonna look great on my resume. I get to show future employers that I am responsible, communicative, and adaptable.
