Merit Perfume Review: Is This Popular Fragrance Worth the Hype?

So, I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about this new brand called MERIT. I mean, who hasn’t? It’s like, everywhere. They’re all about that “clean” and “vegan” thing, which, honestly, is a big plus for me. And I kept seeing these beauty editors raving about it, so you know I had to check it out for myself.

First off, I saw that MERIT perfumes are now available at Sephora, which is super convenient. I headed over to my local store to give them a sniff. There was this one, “Retrospect,” that particularly caught my eye. It’s their first perfume, and they call it an “extrait de parfum,” which sounds fancy, right? And honestly, the scent was so good, like a mix of fresh and floral, and it lingered for a long time after I sprayed it on my wrist.

Then I started digging a little deeper. I found out that MERIT isn’t just a perfume brand. They have a whole line of beauty products, and apparently, they’re a big deal among beauty editors. I read a review by some editor who tested their first fragrance, and they were all over it. It got me thinking, maybe there’s something to this hype.

My Experience

• Diving In: Okay, so I decided to take the plunge and ordered a few things from their website. I got the Retrospect perfume, of course, and a couple of other things to try out.
• First Impressions: When the package arrived, I was impressed by the simple, minimalist packaging. Very chic. It reminded me of my favorite pair of faded jeans – comfy and understated. The perfume bottle itself is really pretty, too.
• The Scent Test: I sprayed the Retrospect perfume, and it was just as good as I remembered from the store. It’s the kind of scent that makes you feel put-together without being overpowering. Perfect for everyday wear.
• Exploring Other Products: I also tried out some of their other products, like their lip oil and complexion stick. They were okay, too. It seems like they really focus on that “no-makeup makeup” look, which is cool.
• Overall Thoughts: I’d say MERIT is definitely worth checking out, especially their Retrospect perfume. It’s become my go-to scent for now. They also have a scent called “Merit” by Nilafar du Nil, a Chypre Floral fragrance for women. I haven’t tried it yet, but the reviews are good. It’s launched in 2022, and the nose behind this fragrance is AbdelFattah Nassar.
