Okay, so I’ve been planning this trip to New York for a while now, and one of the biggest things on my mind has been what to wear. I mean, it’s New York! You gotta look good, right? But also, you need to be comfortable because you’re going to be doing a lot of walking. So I started by doing some research, reading articles, and browsing through countless photos of stylish New Yorkers.

I gathered that New York style is all about being yourself and having fun with your clothes. But there are some basics that everyone seems to have, like a good pair of white sneakers, jeans, a navy blue suit, and a plain white T-shirt. These are like the building blocks of a New York wardrobe.
I also learned that New Yorkers, like the French, are into quality over quantity. So I thought, okay, I need some good quality basics. I already had a few things, but I decided to invest in a couple more pieces, like a really nice white blouse and a cozy cashmere sweater. And since it’s going to be chilly, I made sure to pack a warm, stylish coat, maybe a plaid one. I read somewhere that tartan is trendy this fall, so I might look for something like that too.
- White Sneakers: Because you’re going to be walking a lot.
- Jeans: A couple of pairs, one dark wash, one lighter.
- White T-shirts: Can’t go wrong with a classic.
- White Blouse: A crisp, good quality one for when I want to look a bit more dressed up.
- Cashmere Sweater: For those chilly evenings.
- Leather Leggings: I think they look cool and they’re comfy.
- Little Black Dress: Just in case I go somewhere fancy.
- Plaid Jacket: I saw a really nice plaid jacket at the store, and I think it’ll be perfect.
- Beanie: To keep my head warm and add a bit of style.
Here’s what I packed:
I also made sure to pack some accessories, like scarves and a sunhat. I figured they could add a pop of color or something extra to my outfits. I tried to stick to the “less is more” idea, but I also wanted to have options, you know?
I laid everything out on my bed and started putting together outfits in my head. I mixed and matched different pieces, trying to imagine myself walking around New York, going to cafes, museums, and maybe even a Broadway show. I think I’ve got a good mix of casual and slightly dressier options. It was a bit of a process, but it was actually pretty fun.
Anyway, I’m really excited about my trip and feeling pretty good about my wardrobe choices. Hopefully, I’ll blend right in with the stylish New Yorkers. Or at least I won’t look totally out of place! I just hope I packed everything I need. Fingers crossed!
