First up, I tried to recreate that classic monochrome look. Black and white, simple, right? Wrong! It’s all about the details. I rummaged through my closet and found a crisp white button-down and some black skinny jeans. I tried to add some patterns, but the real magic is in the details.

I picked up a pleated one because it seemed the most versatile, also it’s a popular one in 2014. I paired the skirt with a simple tucked-in tee and some sneakers.

It felt so flowy and fun. I could totally see why these were so popular. I took a walk around the park, and it was perfect for a breezy day.

I also did some digging online about the popular brands back then. Nike, American Eagle, Forever 21 – those were the big names. I don’t have much from those brands anymore, but I did find an old Nike tee. I decided to style it with some ripped jeans and a baseball cap.
