They say periwinkle is like cornflower blue, but with a bit of purple in it. Makes it, uh, “whimsical.” What a word! I reckon it just means it’s a bit different, not your regular blue. They also say it’s a cool color. This color is warm, that one is cool. Makes no never mind to me.
And they got other names for these blues, too. “Savoy blue” or something. They say it’s between periwinkle and some other blue, like a peacock. That peacock blue, it is pretty, and the savoy is lighter than it. Too many names, if you ask me. And periwinkle is between blue and purple. That’s just how they are on that color wheel thing. All these fancy words are going over my head.
If you want my two cents, just pick the one you like better. Some folks, they’ll like that cornflower blue. It’s a good, strong blue. Other folks, they’ll like that periwinkle. It’s soft, it’s quiet. Me, I like ’em both. They’re both blue, and blue’s a good color. It’s the color of the sky, the color of the water, the color of them pretty flowers that grow wild down by the creek.
