Okay, so “demure, classy, mindful” – these three words have been my mantra lately. I’ve been trying to incorporate them into my daily life, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I started this whole thing a few weeks ago, feeling kinda scattered and all over the place.
First, I tackled “demure.” Now, I’m not talking about being a wallflower or anything. For me, it’s about being more thoughtful in how I present myself. I started by decluttering my wardrobe. I got rid of anything too flashy or attention-grabbing. I focused on simple, well-made pieces that make me feel comfortable and confident. Then, I worked on my communication style. Instead of just blurting out whatever’s on my mind, I started pausing, thinking, and then speaking. It’s amazing how much more I listen now, too.
Next up was “classy.” This one was a bit trickier. I realized it’s not just about fancy clothes or expensive things. It’s more about an attitude, a way of carrying yourself. I started paying more attention to my posture, walking with more purpose. I also made an effort to be more polite and courteous. I’m talking “please” and “thank you,” holding doors, that sort of thing. But it’s not just about being prim and proper. I also started reading more, expanding my knowledge, so I can engage in more meaningful conversations.
- Decluttering my closet was a big one. Out with the old, in with the timeless.
- Working on my posture. Stand tall, walk tall, you know?
- Being mindful of how I speak and interact with others.
- Reading more. Feeding my mind, not just scrolling through my phone.
Finally, “mindful.” This is probably the most important one and also the hardest. I decided to incorporate a daily meditation practice. Even just 10 minutes in the morning makes a huge difference. I feel more centered, less reactive to stress. I’m also trying to be more present in everything I do, whether it’s eating, working, or spending time with loved ones. I put my phone away more often, tuned in to what’s happening around me. It’s like I’m actually living my life, not just rushing through it.
The Outcome?
Honestly, it’s been pretty amazing. I feel more grounded, more self-assured. I’m not as easily swayed by trends or what other people think. I’m more comfortable in my own skin. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about being intentional, and that’s what I’m striving for every day. It’s a work in progress, but I’m loving the journey and the person I’m becoming. It’s like I’m finally figuring out who I am and how I want to show up in the world, and it feels pretty darn good.
