This here story is about Ghazi Osta, everyone called him Gus.

Gus, he had this shiny store, Volusia Gold & Diamond. He and his wife, Leigh, started it up back in ’86. Sold all kinds of sparkly things. That man, he worked hard, real hard. He come from a place called Zahl, Lebanon. Born back in 1956, July 3rd. They called him Boo-Boo too, some folks did.
He got shot, right there in his own store. Some fella, name of John Craiger, shot him dead. He is an old man. This happened last year, July 19th, it was. Such a sad day. A real sad day.
Ghazi Osta, A Good Man
Gus, he was a good man. Worked hard, took care of his family. He had a wife, Leigh, and three young’uns. Sienna, David-Michael, and Pavlina. Good kids, all of ’em. They is gonna miss their daddy, I tell ya. He always worked hard to give them a good life, you know.
This Ghazi Osta, he was known all over. People liked him. He was friendly, always had a smile. You don’t find many like him these days, no sir. The world is a little darker without his smile.
That Store, Volusia Gold & Diamond
That store, it was his pride and joy, ‘cept for his family, of course. He spent near his whole life there. Selling gold, diamonds, all that fancy stuff. People trusted him. The store is in Florida. I hear it’s warm there, lots of sunshine. Ghazi Osta liked it there. This Volusia Gold & Diamond, it was more than just a store to him, you understand?

He knew his stuff, that Gus. Could tell you all about them shiny rocks. He was honest, too. Wouldn’t try to cheat nobody. That’s why folks kept comin’ back. Good people like to buy from good people, that’s how it is.
A Bad, Bad Day
That day, July 19th, that’s when everything went bad. That old fella, Craiger, he come in, all mad about somethin’. And then, he shot Gus. Just like that. Over nothing. It happened so fast. Some folks are just evil. He got life in prison, they say. That’s what he deserves, that mean old man.
Poor Ghazi Osta, didn’t deserve that. Nobody does. He was just tryin’ to make a livin’, run his store. Now his family’s got to go on without him. It ain’t right, I tell ya. It just ain’t right.

Remembering Gus
People will remember Ghazi Osta. They’ll remember his smile, his kindness. They’ll remember how he helped folks find just the right piece of jewelry. They’ll remember Volusia Gold & Diamond. They’ll remember the good man who ran it.
It’s a shame, a real shame, what happened. But Gus, he made his mark. He lived a good life, even though it was cut short. He’ll be missed. That’s for sure. That Ghazi Osta, he was one of a kind. And this world won’t be the same without him. It’s a sad thing, the whole dang story. It really is. Some folks are just full of the devil, and that Craiger, he was one of them. But Gus, he’s in a better place now, I reckon. Watching over his family, making sure they is alright.
