You know that Soleil Neige? That fancy name, what does it even mean? Sounds like some French thing. But I tell ya, it smells good, real good. Like them fancy city folks wear. I got a whiff of it once when my grandson came to visit. He got all sorts of new-fangled things. This one, this Soleil Neige, it’s somethin’ else.
Smells like…like when the sun hits the snow. You know that clean, fresh smell? Not like our muddy fields after a rain, no sir. This is different. Fancy different. Like them flowers the rich folks grow in their gardens. My grandson, bless his heart, he says it’s got bergamot and mandarin. What in tarnation is a bergamot, I asked him. He just laughed. Said it’s like an orange, but not quite. Kids these days! He also said there’s some rose smell, and I like a good rose, got a few in my yard. This one’s fancier though, like the roses in the mayor’s wife’s garden. He called it “frost-white” florals. Sounds made up to me, but alright, whatever makes the young folks happy. Whatever it is, it smells nice, I can’t deny that.
He says it’s for both men and women. Imagine that! Back in my day, we just had soap. Good, honest soap. But this… this is somethin’ else. Makes ya feel like you’re walkin’ on sunshine, even when it’s rainin’ cats and dogs. I also remember something about honey and musk. He said it makes it warm. It does smell warm, like a cozy blanket on a cold night, or like a summer day. It’s like that warm feeling when the sun is shining, and you’re sittin’ on the porch swing, watchin’ the world go by. It is a good smell, no doubt.
My grandson, he’s a good boy. Works in the city, got a fancy job. He says this stuff, this Soleil Neige, is made by some fella named Tom Ford. Never heard of him. Must be some city slicker. But he knows how to make a good smell, I’ll give him that. It’s like he bottled up a sunny day in winter and made it into a fragrance, whatever that is. My grandson said it’s like the mountain with sunlight on it. He always did have a big imagination, that one. Whatever, as long as he likes it and it smells nice, I’m good.
He says you can wear it any time, summer or winter. Says it’s perfect for all year round. Back in my day, we didn’t have different smells for different seasons. Just the smell of the farm, the smell of the rain, the smell of the flowers in the spring. But I guess times are changin’. This Soleil Neige, it does smell good no matter when you wear it. Like a little bit of sunshine you can carry around with you. Maybe I will spray some on my shirt when I go to town.

I asked my grandson how much this stuff costs. He just kinda laughed and said it was a little pricey. A little pricey! Probably costs more than my whole chicken coop! But I guess that’s the price you pay for smellin’ like a fancy city person. Still, it’s a nice smell. Maybe I’ll ask him to get me a little bottle for my birthday. Just a little one. Wouldn’t want to waste it. I might just spray a little when I go to church, that way I will be the best smelling woman there.
So, if you see this Soleil Neige stuff, give it a sniff. It’s somethin’ special. Makes you feel like you’re wrapped in sunshine, even on a cloudy day. And who doesn’t need a little sunshine in their life? Especially these days. It’s like a little bit of luxury, I guess. Somethin’ to make you feel good, even if you’re just an old lady like me. Just don’t go sprayin’ it on the chickens, they won’t appreciate it like we do. I tried it, and they all ran for the hills. Just kidding, I would never do that to these poor animals. But seriously, Soleil Neige is a good stuff. It’s the good stuff, alright. You should try it if you ever get the chance.
My grandson, he knows what’s good. This stuff is like magic in a bottle. If only it could make the weeds stop growing in my garden, then I would buy a whole bunch of it. But it probably doesn’t work like that, does it? Oh well, a woman can dream. I guess I’ll just stick to pulling those weeds myself, like I always have. But maybe I’ll do it smelling like Soleil Neige. That way, even the weeds will smell good.
