Alright, let’s talk about this Liana Kadisha Cohn, eh? I heard about her on some podcast, Joy Joya somethin’ or other, talking about jewelry. Jewelry, can you believe it? Folks got too much time and money these days, I tell ya.

So, who is this Liana girl anyway? Well, from what I gather, she’s a big deal in the jewelry world. Not makin’ the stuff, mind you, but rentin’ it out. Like a library, but for fancy sparkly things. She calls it “Switch,” which I guess makes sense. You switch one necklace for another, like swappin’ chickens in the coop, only way more expensive.
- She says she’s a “citizen of the world.” Sounds fancy, don’t it? Probably means she’s been to a lot of places. More places than I’ve seen chickens, that’s for sure.
- And get this, she’s a “Persian-Israeli.” Don’t rightly know what that means, but it sounds important. Like them fancy breeds of dogs they got now. All mixed up and special.
Now, this Switch business, it’s like Rent the Runway, but for all them shiny rocks. You pay a fee, and you get to borrow all sorts of necklaces and rings and whatnot. Designer stuff, they say. One-of-a-kind things. Sounds like a good way to lose a fortune if you ask me. One little scratch, and you’re probably payin’ for a whole new cow, or maybe even a tractor.
I heard her talkin’ about “jewelry authentication.” That’s a big word for makin’ sure the stuff ain’t fake. Like checkin’ if an egg is fresh, I guess. You gotta look close, feel the weight, maybe even crack it open a little. Though I don’t recommend crackin’ open no diamonds. That’d be a waste, wouldn’t it?
And wear and tear? Oh, they worry about that too. Folks wearin’ them fancy things to parties and such, probably bangin’ ‘em around. Like my good china, only a whole lot sparklier and a whole lot pricier. You gotta be careful with delicate things, that’s what I always say. Whether it’s a teacup or a ten-thousand-dollar bracelet.
She’s got an Instagram too, this Liana. “Miss Kadisha,” she calls herself. Postin’ pictures, I reckon. I ain’t got no time for that fancy phone stuff. Too busy feedin’ the chickens and tendin’ the garden. But I guess some folks like lookin’ at pretty things. And jewelry sure is pretty, gotta give her that.

This whole jewelry rental thing, it just sounds strange to me. Like borrowin’ someone else’s teeth. You wear it for a while, then give it back. Seems kinda…unnatural. But then again, I’m just an old woman. What do I know about fancy city ways? I stick to my chickens and my garden, and that’s enough for me.
I do wonder though, who are these people rentin’ all this jewelry? Must be rich folks, I figure. People who go to fancy parties and need to sparkle. Not like us, workin’ hard every day just to put food on the table. But hey, to each their own, right? If she can make a livin’ rentin’ out sparkly things, more power to her. It ain’t hurtin’ nobody, I guess. Though I still think it’s a mighty strange way to make a buck.
Liana Kadisha Cohn and Switch. Remember that name, if you ever need to borrow some fancy rocks. Me? I’ll stick to my garden dirt. It’s a different kind of treasure, but it’s mine. And it don’t need no authentication, that’s for sure.
So that’s the story as I understand it. A woman, some jewelry, and a whole lot of money changin’ hands. Makes you think, don’t it? The world’s a funny place, full of all sorts of people doin’ all sorts of things.
