Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this here… watch, this Zodiac Grandhydra thingamajig. Folks keep talkin’ ’bout it, so I figured I’d take a look-see.

First off, they say it’s a luxury watch, but don’t go gettin’ all fancy-pants on me. It ain’t like them watches the rich folks wear, all gold and glittery. This one, it’s made of somethin’ they call stainless steel. Sounds tough, like a good ol’ pot, ya know? And they got this sapphire glass on it too. Says it’s scratch-proof. Well, I ain’t gonna go scratchin’ it on purpose, but I guess that’s a good thing.
Now, this fella, Ariste Calame, he started makin’ these watches way back in 1882, over in some place called Switzerland. Le Locle, they call it. Sounds fancy, but prob’ly just a town like any other, with folks workin’ hard and makin’ things. Anyways, this Zodiac fella, he made good watches, they say. Precise and well-crafted, like a good quilt or a sturdy fence.
This Grandhydra watch, it ain’t all old-timey though. They say it’s got a modern design. I don’t know much about design, but it looks…nice. Got a round face, easy to read the numbers, and a bracelet that feels… solid. They make some with a rubber strap too, for folks who like that kinda thing.
- Some of ’em are quartz watches, which means they run on batteries, I reckon.
- And they say some models are special edition, which prob’ly means they’re a bit more special, ya know? Like grandma’s special recipe for apple pie.
They got all sorts of numbers on these watches too. Like, ZO9951, or ZO9954, or ZO9957. I guess that’s how they tell ’em apart. Like my chickens, I know which one’s which by lookin’ at ’em, but these watches all look kinda similar, so I guess the numbers help.
Now, about the price. Some folks say you can get one for around $895. That ain’t chicken feed, let me tell ya. But it ain’t as much as them gold watches the rich folks wear neither. They say it’s a good deal for a luxury watch, but I don’t know nothin’ about luxury. I just know if somethin’ works good and lasts long, that’s worth payin’ for.

Some folks are sellin’ their used Grandhydras too. They say they’re in “excellent condition.” Well, I hope so, for that kinda money! And they talk about somethin’ called a Ronda movement. Sounds fancy, but I guess it just means the inside parts are good quality and won’t break down on ya. They say it won’t “crap out,” which is good, ’cause nobody wants a watch that craps out.
You can find these watches on that eBay thing, they say. Folks are always sellin’ stuff on there. And they say you can get free shipping sometimes too. That’s a good deal, ’cause shippin’ stuff can cost a pretty penny.
These watches are Swiss Made, which means they’re made over in that Switzerland place. And they’re water resistant too, up to 100 meters. That’s good, I guess, if you fall in a well or somethin’. But I ain’t plannin’ on doin’ any swimmin’ with a watch on, let me tell ya.
So, that’s about all I know about this Zodiac Grandhydra watch. It seems like a good, sturdy watch, made by folks who know what they’re doin’. It ain’t cheap, but it ain’t crazy expensive neither. If you’re lookin’ for a watch that’ll last, and you don’t mind spendin’ a bit of money, this might be the one for ya.
