So, the other day I was cooking and I made a mess. I was frying something up, and I guess I got a little carried away with the oil. Some of it splattered, and wouldn’t you know it, right onto my favorite pair of Ugg boots. Yeah, those comfy, sheepskin ones. I was so bummed. I mean, these boots are like my go-to in the winter, and now they’re all stained up. First thing I did was just stand there for a sec, staring at the stain, hoping it would magically disappear. It didn’t, obviously.

I grabbed a paper towel and dabbed at the oil spots. I didn’t want to rub it in, you know? That would have just made it worse. I got most of the fresh oil off, but the stain was still there, just staring back at me. I knew I had to do something, I just didn’t know what. Then it hit me. I needed to use something to absorb the remaining oil in the fabric. After all, I couldn’t just apply any liquid or wet solution to my Ugg boots. So, I went and got some cornstarch from the kitchen. I sprinkled a good amount of it over the stains and gently patted it down. I let that sit for a while, like a few hours, to give it time to really soak up the oil. It was hard to wait, but I knew it would be worth it.
Once the waiting was over, I took a soft brush and brushed away the cornstarch. And let me tell you, it was like magic! Most of the oil stain was gone. There was still a faint mark, but nothing like before. For the final touches, I mixed a bit of mild detergent with water and gently dabbed the remaining stain with a clean cloth. I rinsed it off with another clean, damp cloth and let the boots air dry. I didn’t want to use a hairdryer or anything that could damage the sheepskin.
I’m happy to report that my Uggs are now almost as good as new. You can barely see where the stain was. I was so relieved! It was a bit of work, but totally worth it to save my favorite boots.
- First, dab the excess oil with a paper towel.
- Then, sprinkle cornstarch on the stain and let it sit.
- Next, brush off the cornstarch.
- Finally, clean with a mild detergent solution and let it air dry.
What I learned from this:
- Always act fast when you get oil on your Uggs.
- Don’t rub the stain, just dab it.
- Cornstarch is great for absorbing oil.
- Patience is key when waiting for the cornstarch to work.
- Don’t use heat to dry your Uggs, always air dry.
I’m not saying I’m an expert or anything, but this method worked for me. If you’ve got oil stains on your Uggs, it’s definitely worth a try. Just remember to be patient and gentle, and hopefully, you’ll be able to save your boots too!
