Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get a new pair of comfy boots for a while now, and I finally decided to do it. I narrowed it down to two options: Uggs and Koolaburra. I heard they’re pretty similar, but I wanted to see for myself what the deal was.

Uggs vs Koolaburra: Similar, But Whats the Difference?

First, I went to check out some Uggs. When I picked them up, I noticed right away the logo and the sun pattern on the sole. They felt super soft and cozy. Seemed like a pretty solid choice.

Then, I tried on the Koolaburra boots. I did some digging around and found out that the brand Koolaburra is actually owned by Ugg! So it’s like a sister brand or something. Koolaburra is like the more budget-friendly version, and honestly, when I tried them on, they felt really similar to the Uggs.

But here’s the thing I learned: apparently, you can’t even buy Australian-made Uggs outside of Australia under the name “UGG.” There’s some kind of trademark thing, and the UGG brand we know here in the US is actually a Californian brand. They used to be called “UGG Australia” but changed it to just “UGG.” Anyway, that was some interesting info I didn’t know before.

After trying on both, I was still kind of on the fence. They both felt great, but I wasn’t sure which one was better in the long run. I did some more reading, and I saw someone say that Uggs are more comfortable over time because of the wool. That made sense to me, so I decided to go with the Uggs. They were a bit more expensive, but I figured it’s worth it for something I’ll be wearing a lot.

So, that’s my little adventure in the world of Uggs and Koolaburra. In the end, I went with Uggs because of the whole wool thing. I’ll see how it goes!
