Okay, let’s talk about this. So the other day, I was trying to buy a new phone case on Amazon, nothing fancy, just a regular silicone one. But man, was that website slow! It took forever just to load the search results, and don’t even get me started on the product pages. I mean, I could have walked to a store, bought the case, and come back home in the time it took for a single page to load. What a drag!

So, I started to dig into it. I first checked my internet speed, and it was pretty decent, nothing amazing, but more than enough for browsing. I’m getting around 20-30 Mbps on average, so it’s not like I’m on dial-up or something. I mean I can watch HD movies on Netflix without any buffering, why Amazon is so slow?
Then I thought, maybe it’s just my old laptop acting up. So I cleared my browser’s cache and cookies, you know, the usual stuff. Restarted the browser, even the whole laptop, but nope, still slow. I even tried a different browser, switched from Chrome to Firefox, but Amazon was still crawling. I also tried to disable all the browser extensions.
- Tried clearing cache and cookies
- Restarted the browser and laptop
- Tried a different browser
- Disabled all extensions
Feeling a bit more adventurous, I decided to go for a clean browser profile. Created a new one, no add-ons, no extensions, nothing. Guess what? Amazon loaded a bit faster, but still not as snappy as I’d expect. It was like watching a sloth climb a tree – slow and painful.
Next, I grabbed my phone and tried the Amazon app. Uninstalled it and reinstalled it, hoping for a miracle. No such luck. It was just as sluggish as the website. At this point, I’m starting to think it’s not me, it’s them. After that, I contacted Amazon customer service, but they were not much help.
So here’s what I’ve gathered so far. I checked online, and apparently, I’m not the only one facing this issue. Many people are complaining about Amazon’s slow website and app. It looks like it can be a number of issues, like too many people trying to shop at the same time or Amazon’s servers not being able to handle the load, and some even mentioned the site’s design and mobile optimization could be better. And, of course, delivery delays and driver shortages don’t help either.
What I Tried
- Checked my internet speed
- Cleared browser cache and cookies
- Restarted browser and laptop
- Tried different browsers
- Created a clean browser profile
- Uninstalled and reinstalled the Amazon app
- Contacted Amazon customer service
I’m still not 100% sure what the main culprit is, but it seems like a mix of things. It’s frustrating, especially when you’re just trying to buy something simple. Hopefully, Amazon will sort this out soon. It’s a bummer because I like shopping there, but this slowness is making me look at other options. I guess I will use other online shopping platforms these days.
