Okay, so I’ve been wanting to switch up my hair color for a while now. I finally decided to take the plunge, but I wasn’t sure about the whole timing thing with washing my hair beforehand. So, I did a little digging around on the internet to figure out how long I should wait after washing my hair to dye it.

First, I grabbed my phone and started scrolling through a bunch of websites. Most of them said that it’s best to wait at least 24 to 48 hours after washing your hair before dyeing it. Something about the natural oils in your hair helping the dye stick better and causing less damage.
I decided to play it safe and waited a full 48 hours. I mean, I didn’t want to end up with some fried, messed up hair, right? So, I washed my hair on, like, a Tuesday morning, using my regular shampoo and conditioner and skipped the deep conditioner.
Then, I just went about my usual routine for the next couple of days. No washing, just dry shampoo to keep things looking somewhat decent. Finally, Thursday evening rolled around, and it was time to get down to business. I was ready to do this.
I had my at-home hair dye kit all laid out. And let me tell you, following those instructions to the letter was a whole other adventure. But, I managed to get the dye all over my hair without making too much of a mess.
After letting the dye sit for the recommended time, I hopped in the shower and rinsed it all out. It was definitely a bit nerve-wracking, not knowing exactly how it would turn out. But, when I finally dried and styled my hair, I was actually pretty happy with the results! My hair looks great, and the color was vibrant, and I didn’t feel like my hair was totally fried or anything.

So yeah, waiting those 48 hours after washing my hair seemed to do the trick. I’m definitely no expert, but it worked out for me. Just thought I’d share my little hair dye adventure in case anyone else was wondering about the same thing. It was a success!
